The Intern Diaries – Paper Flowers

Author: Kimberley Cathline de Rodríguez

Dear Diary,
Genesis just recently launched our sister company Perfect Scents Floral Boutique! Genesis has been creating one-of-a-kind floral décor and bouquets for clients for over 25 years and is now offering their services to the public as Perfect Scents. One fabulous addition is that Perfect Scents is also offering couture specialty bouquets in addition to fresh floral. These include luxe Brooch Bouquets and also Paper Flower Bouquets. I had the opportunity recently to develop my paper flower-making skills and created a few different fabulous paper bouquets!

My first attempt was with coffee filter flowers. I created a couple different kinds of flowers. One was made of ivory roses.

Each flower was made entirely by hand and it was a lot of work but they turned out just gorgeous!

I created enough roses to assemble a bouquet.

I also worked on another type of coffee filter roses in different shades of purple.

I also incorporated some small paper flowers with crystals as embellishments.

I created a bouquet out of these roses that was very pretty.

My latest paper flower creation is the Storybook Rose. These roses use pages from a book and each petal is cut by hand.

Then each petal is assembled one by one, starting with the smaller petals and progressing to the larger ones, rotating around the stem.

I assembled a bouquet of the Storybook Roses and added some embellishments that created a vintage look.

The paper flowers turned out beautiful but they were a lot of work! They definitely are worth the effort to have a keepsake forever from your wedding day.

Love,

Kimberley
